With a need to raise publicity for the school, "money was invested in supporting a student radio broadcast as a way of reaching alumni. The first program aired September 1930 over station WLBW in Oil city. Broadcasts were discontinued after a year or so, as they cost too much while informing listeners in too limited an area."
